The Big Game!

June 22, 2010

Tomorrow afternoon, we are expecting a lot of people to visit pubs across the borough, all of them hoping that England can find their form and progress into the next stage of the World Cup.

Whatever the result, we hope that people will behave responsibly and not let themselves down. So far, we have had only a couple of isolated incidents of disorder during the games. As before, additional police resources will be on patrol to respond quickly to any problems.

For those of you who plan to visit Walsall town centre, you may find that Bridge Street is closed between the junctions with Goodall Street and Lichfield Street. This is so that when the game ends and people come out onto the streets, there won’t be any conflict between pedestrians and motorists.

If you are driving into Walsall tomorrow evening around 5pm, it may be worth avoiding the Bridge Street area as it is likely to be congested.

The road will be closed for as short a time as possible.

Enjoy the game!

Really good to see you having a presence online.

Hope it stays quiet for the England game.
