Two chances to have a say on licensing.

August 6, 2010

Those of us working in the area of licensing have two opportunities to influence law and policy both locally and nationally.

Every three years, Walsall Council are required to publish a “Statement of Licensing Policy” which describes how the authority and partners will deal with licensing applications and other related matters.

The policy is due for review and interested parties can read the draft policy and comment on it at the following site.

Nationally, control of the licensing regime has now been taken over by the Home Office, who are consulting on changes to the Licensing Act 2003. There has been criticism of parts of the Act from a diversity of sources and now everyone has a chance to make their views heard.

There is an online consultation process which can be found by clicking this link.

If you are working in the licensed trade or have an interest in licensing law, then you really need to take a look at these sites and have your say.
